Spreading the Drifting Bug!

Posted in Sibu Drifting on December 30, 2009 by Stanley Carter

Drift!  Finally, it’s been so long since I’ve last burnt any rubbers.

My good friend, Luke, from Bintulu came down to Sibu last weekend for a 3 days trip, and he asked if there’s going to be any drift session happening, how could I said no?  Regardless on the fact that there’s only 1 drifter that’s going to drift anyways… yeah.. that’s me! LOL!

So we agreed to meet up at my usual playground on Sunday 3pm, prior to the meet, I’ve also called a couple of friends to join, 1 of them works in Proton and drives an old school Corona with weber setup, and another is a teacher who drives a 1JZ mark II, as well as a Toyota Crown which was bought recently:

Both of these guys seem to be pretty interested in drifting, and I hope to make them catch up with the drifting bug as soon as possible, since I got pretty tired of playing alone most of the time.

At 3pm, all of us met up at the place, and after I’ve took out all the junks and tires from my Charmant, I went straight into drifting mode!

The weather of the day was hot, and due to my current tight budget, I’ve only got 1 set of spare tires to play with, so the drifting ended pretty early.

Luke from Bintulu drove all the way to Sibu in his nice 1JZ Cresta:

Clean and Tidy!

Being a mechanic himself, he sure did a neat job in the engine bay.  Aside from the clean engine bay, the 1JZ is also running real smooth, which makes it a very comfortable ride, I can testify to that since I’ve sat in this car before, the only downside is that its still running automatic transmission, and there’s no LSD, so not much fun can be done out of this car, yet….

Chit Chatting

Sorry for the lack of pictures, the Corona guy didn’t drove his Corona, instead he drove his turbo Satria to the spot, and the teacher drove his Crown instead of his 1JZ mark II, and I’m sure most of you are kinda sick and tired of watching my Charmant, haha!  Luke actually recorded some videos using his handphone, but I haven’t got those from him.

Back to my car, due to higher compression, my car’s power has slightly increased, but due to the bumpy surface of the area, one of my fuel injector socket came loose, and the car will simply stalled on the spot, everytime this happens, I had to pop up the hood and push the socket back into place again, this went on for like 2-3 times, very annoying, will need to have those fixed.

The day ended without much drama, except for 2 very badly damaged tires, yay!

My 2009 Christmas Experience

Posted in Personal on December 25, 2009 by Stanley Carter

I’ve mentioned how busy I was in December, so what exactly was I busying at?

Unfortunately its not much related to my poor little Charmant, it’s more on the Friends, Family, Gathering, Dinner kinda stuffs.

So here goes…

First is a Christmas Party that me and a group of friends helped organized together, in this party, there’s a group of six girls dancing to the popular Korean song “Nobody” by the Wonder Girls, and guess what, I’m their choreograph coach!

Rest assured, you won’t get the chance to see me dance to “Nobody”, you might get nightmares, so I present to you a youtube video showing how the girls did:

I must say I’m pretty proud at them, since I was their coach.

On the same dinner, I’ve also participated in a little sketch performance, I acted a little too hard and I literally ripped my right shoe apart, what a bummer.  The shoe was repaired the next day but then my left shoe decided to give up on me as well:

Cheap!

Since Chinese New Year is just around the corner, I guess its about time I buy new shoes.

At the end of the party, I was awarded with the “Crowd’s Favorite Male of the Night” award, very cheesy I know, LOL!

Certificate?

A Trophy!

That’s about it from the Christmas Party with friends, this was on 19th Dec though.

And then on the following day, I’ve brought my lovely wife and Darren out for a little Christmas cum Family gathering of our own, I’ve decided its probably a better idea doing this earlier than the actual Christmas Eve since most restaurants will have those ‘restricted’/’limited’ menus to choose from, which IMHO, they all sucked and way too expensive.

So I brought my family to a little cafe called “Full House”, to our surprise, the place was empty, and we were their first customer of the evening, we had a great dinner which consists of noodles and grilled chicken, and Darren was as naughty as always, funny thing was that he got freaked out by the Christmas Tree’s lighting effects, LOL!

Speaking of Christmas Trees, right after the dinner, me and my wife decided to bring Darren to Wisma Sanyan to check out the Christmas Tree Displays, again, Darren got so nervous due to the lightings as well as all the noise, but he got used to it after a few minutes.

After we finished watching all the Christmas Trees, Darren was so exhausted he felt asleep in the car, and that’s how our little Family Gathering thingy ended.

Then came to the 24th of December, Christmas Eve, my company was holding a Christmas Eve Dinner at Kingwood Hotel, and I was assigned to be the emcee, truth be told, I’ve been hosting my company’s Christmas dinners for the past two years, so there was no surprise that they came looking for me again.  The downside is that, since I will be busy up on the stage hosting the event, me and my wife wouldn’t be able to bring Darren along with us, Darren is still only 8 months old and we both know that my wife wouldn’t be able to take good care of him during the evening, let alone having a good dinner, d’oh!

Anyways, my wife still get to come along while my mother takes care of Darren.  The event was sort of OK, there were little problems here and there but in the end, it was successful, and I was exhausted.  After the dinner, the hotel management invited us to their lounge for the countdown party, regardless of the fatigue, me and my wife went along.  I had a couple of beers and was feeling a bit dizzy after the countdown, it wasn’t that crazy as I’ve expected, but overall, we had fun.

…..

I know I know, this post is like, super boring! LOL!

My good friend, Luke, from Bintulu just arrived Sibu as I’m typing this, he’s driving a 1JZ Cresta, though he’s not into drift anymore, but we’ll be meeting up tomorrow at my usual playground, I’ll be calling out some other friends as well, so hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more exciting.

The ‘Dog’ project is looking very promising!

Many months ago, I featured Edgar’s Charmant from Indonesia, back then the car just started its body restoration at a bodyshop, after an agonizing 1/2 year passed (I feel your pain, Edgar, it’s a LOOONG wait!), the workshop finally done with the body and started the painting process, and honestly, I think Edgar picked one helluva sexy paint there!

Here’s some progress shots taken from his blog:

Now I hope the workshop guys can get their acts together and get it done ALREADY, cause I’ve been eager to see that 4AGE in the ‘Dog’ so badly, this Charmant is going to be the bomb, since it’ll be rocking with these sexy babies:

OG Old School 15x8

Jealous!?  Hell yes I am! LOL!
