The rim is Enkei Japan Competition 8 Racing 13 x 8jj, real wide, but tiny too.

The one you see above is fitted with 175/70/R13 tire, stretched.  It would’ve looked a whole lot better if it is wrapped with a much wider tire.

Anyhow, I only test fitted this wheel last weekend, it ain’t mine though, hehe.

The rims were recently sold on DCM.

Visit to a bodyshop

I get to visit a freelance’s house last Sunday, I was there to meet Johnny as he was having portions of his AE86’s body parts disassembled and replicated using fiber.

While we were there, Johnny showed me this rim and said that how it would look better on my Charmant, it may not be wide with only 13x6jj, but it is +0 offset:

The rim does not interest me but then the owner decided that if I were interested, he would sell me at RM500 inclusive of the tires….. yea maybe another lifetime, thanks!

I’ve also spotted this nicely restored clean looking Mini at the entrance, still using stock motor though:

Such a cool little ride!

I have no love for me tires

Indeed I don’t.

But before I go to that, I had just lowered the front of my car, with the help from a little WD-40:

plus a big*ss screwdriver and hammer:

…and the end result:

Balanced height

The adjustments were minimal, but as you can see now that my front and rear height is more balanced.  Some have noticed but the majority did not, being the fact that my Charmant’s front was actually higher than the rear back then, and it looks pretty silly to me, now that I’ve got this issue sorted, I went and did my alignments, and after that’s done, it’s time for some test drives…hehe….

I’ve only got to do a some random donuts….

But I’ve shredded both my rear tires in less than 10 minutes, it was a REALLY hot day afterall, and the shredded rubbers got tangled onto my wheel hub as well:

No harm done:

Gonna have to go easy with my right foot from now on, I’ve used up all my tires for the month, time to stock up again… soon… ^^

Travelling… choices…

Posted in Travelling on July 18, 2009 by Stanley Carter

I’ve been thinking about travelling lately, well not to a foreign country, but still within Malaysia, for the sake of Drifting of course!

Star Drift Championship round 3 is going to take place at Bukit Jalil this October, and Formula Drift Malaysia will be happening as well at the end of the year at December.  Both of these events will take place in Kuala Lumpur, which is good as I can stay at my brother’s place for the time being… If I were to go there of course.

The only thing that bothers me are the ticket fares, I’ve only checked AirAsia so far and it seems that the trip on October would be more cost-saving, while the December one would probably cost me RM300+ or more.  Looks like I might have a bigger chance of flying over to KL this October for Star Drift round 3 then, hehe~

Aside from attending the drift events in KL, I’ve also been thinking about driving my Charmant to different places in Sarawak, such as Sarikei, Bintulu, Miri or even Kuching.  Last I heard, Kuching has this small scaled go kart track which is abandoned, but is full packed with enthusiasts who ran their souped up rides during the weekends, now that SOUNDS interesting, I’m currently waiting for a friend of mine to snap a few pictures of the place, I’m just so eager to drive my Charmant in a real track (even though its just a tiny go kart track, LOL!).  Speaking of go kart tracks, remember last time I used to mention another abandoned track in Sarikei, well unfortunately I still haven’t bothered to visit the place just yet, as I was just too concerned on the fact that I might not be able to drive my car into it, you never know right?  But we’ll see in the near future…

Boring July…

Not much interesting stuff to share lately, except for this hardcore old schooler that I spot the other day:

Hard core old school driver

Looking at those rust, and all those items stuffed on top of the vehicle, I’m not sure how long the car could hold, but one thing for sure, the driver must be one of those pasar malam taukehs, hehe….

Apart from spending a lot of time at home taking care of my baby boy (yes, my wife likes to go out a LOT!), I’ve been playing this PC horror game named ‘Dead Space’.

The game was pretty f*cking awesome, but it was scary as hell, I got freaked out so many times playing this awesome game, now I’m at chapter 6 and trying my very best to finish it as soon as possible, since I still have some games left to be played, such as Fallout 3.

Guess that’s what happens when you spent too much time at home, all you can do is play computer games, heh.

Maintenance maintenance…

It’s been some time since I’ve posted anything on this blog, mainly due to the fact that I’m kinda tied up by my very own son, as well as a recent project from my company.

Anyways, while I was having a blast drifting for the past several months, it is to be expected that my Charmant will have some wear and tears after my recent abuse, here’s a short list of my current problems:

  1. Engine having hiccups during startup and misfires, takes several attempts before it could start and run smoothly.
  2. Both lower arms are badly worn and needs to be replaced.
  3. Water temp rises quick after a short drifting session.
Worn lower arm

Worn lower arm

The lower arms were replaced last Sunday, my steering issue was instantly fixed.  I’ve also had my radiator washed but haven’t got the time to test the water temp issue as I’m running out of tires at the moment.

While I was having my new lower arms installed, Johnny dropped by and checked on my car, and he noticed that my front suspension was actually high low adjustable…..WHAT!?  Having driven my car for more than 2 years after the 4AGE conversion, I NEVER knew my front suspension was high low adjustable, I’m like a baby with a big boy’s toy, what an ignorant idiot I am, I guess I’m the ultimate noob.

The only problem that we could not solve is the engine misfiring problem, hopefully we’ll find a way to rectify it… soon.
