New drift partner!

Posted in Sibu Drifting on February 26, 2009 by Stanley Carter

Yes, you heard me alright, when Louis (a.k.a Tofu) left Sibu 2 years ago, I was back being a lonely drifter again.  But not until last Sunday, I finally ‘poisoned’ Johnny in getting his turbocharged AE86 to burn some tires! Hell yeah babeh! LOL!

Last sunday, I had a little drift showoff at Sibu Agape Center, right after that I actually got a sms from Johnny asking if I wanted to have some fun, having just drifted on a big empty car park with my adrenaline still high, of course I replied yes.  We then agreed to meet up at the old airport runway in 30 minutes.

I arrived at the place earlier, so I parked my car and decided to take some pictures:

Noticed the tall stand in which my car is parked right underneath? That’s actually the stand where the R/C drivers stand and maneuver their cars from the higher view.  But for that particular day, its me and Johnny’s pit area, and I did changed my tires there, Sibu’s sun very hot ler… have to take cover mar… HAHA!

And here is a picture I took on the R/C track from the top of the stand:

It looks good doesn’t it, too bad it ain’t BIG enough for some decent drift action, sure you can do some donuts and figure 8s around it, but it’s still too small IMO.  On the other hand, the track is somewhat damaged, but I swear, I was not the culprit! :-X

Here’s another shot I took from the top of the stand, this is the runway, good for doing some high speed choku dori (winks at Louis, LOL!):

This is also the place where I drifted later on after Johnny’s arrival.

Anyways, long story short, Johnny came and did 1-2 donuts, he was shocked that the few seconds only drift was actually enough to peeled off some of its rear tire treads (well, I was shocked as well!).  Without any spares tires available, he decided to just park and watch me play.  I finished off my left rear tire first, got it replaced and off we go again, this time I’m letting Johnny drive.  Again, he was doing only donuts as he finds my non-power steering is a bit hard to control, I guess it does need some getting used to, my steering sure is stiff!

I had Johnny in my passenger seat and we went further up the runway to try some bigger drifts, with the hot blazing sun above us, the tires gave away in just 3 drifts, here are some shots:

Funny thing was, we were having too much fun drifting that we forgot to bring along my tools and the spare tires, that means we had to walk 2-300m on foot to the R/C track area to get the tools and tires, LOL!

After I got the stuffs on Johnny’s car, Johnny let me drove his AE86 down the straight, I must say, his turbocharged AE86 felt like a beast compared to my 16v NA! T_T

Anyhow, we got back onto my Charmant and just when I was jacking up the car and getting the tires changed, I didn’t noticed I had misplaced the jack, not until I lowered down the car and heard some cracking sound, followed by some paint peeling off the side skirt of my Charmant, I had a look and then OMG!

O fuck!

O fuck!

Now that’s definitely not a small damage!  I know, I know, I’m such a f*cking IDIOT!

Johnny just giggled, and then in an attempt to try to make me feel better, he offered me to drive his AE86 down the straight again, I quickly grinned and accepted the offer, man I’m too easily pleased, LOL!

At the end of the runway, we decided to have a little photoshoot with our cars parked together, actually it was my idea as I wanted to share some “fame” with the almighty AE86!  My Charmant must be really happy too! ROFL!

Alright, here are the pictures that I took with my crappy handphone:

I’m just thinking really, that how our cars would’ve looked much better if they were photographed by somebody else, like Victor for instance? *hint hint*  ^_^

Anyways, you might be wondering what makes me think that Johnny’s my drift partner?  Well although he only did some donuts (less than 5 I think), but its the sms that he sent me that night that got me ROFL:

“Shit I suppose not to play but you poisoning me back.  Had been two years not playing car”

Above is the exact sms message that I received when I was about to go to bed, see? see? My effort pays off, now Johnny is slowly coming to the ‘Dark’ side as well, hahahaha~~!! Go go Sibu drift! ^^

Close call!

Posted in Random on February 26, 2009 by Stanley Carter

Yesterday evening I was at my Mother-in-Law’s house when the rain started getting heavier, I didn’t paid much attention to the extremely heavy rain and continue’d watching some drama in the house.  At around 9pm’ish, my mom called:

“Stan, you’re coming home yet?”

“Will be in 30 minutes I guess”

“Well just to inform you, our lane is flooded, and its coming into the garage already”

“Huh!?”

I walked out to the balcony and finally I realized that water is starting to rise thanks to the non-stop heavy rainpour throughout the past several hours.  I quickly informed my wife and we slowly walked to our vehicle, the water level reached our ankles on the road at the time.

The ride home was pretty difficult, as the rain pour was really heavy, it decreases the visibility a lot, plus the fact that my windscreen wipers haven’t gotten replaced (which it should).  But anyhow, we did reached home safely.  As expected, our lane was flooded, I’ve decided its best to drive my wife into the garage first, then drove back out to park my car on a higher ground as a precaution.

Here’s a picture I took from my house:

Flood in the making?

Flood in the making?

This is the highest water level point I think, if it gets any higher its definitely coming into our house for sure.  I suspect the main culprit of this is the bad drainage system which wasn’t properly maintained and also, there is this big house just accross the street which was doing some construction as well, could that be a culprit too?

Anyways, the water subsided pretty soon, I even came down to double check during 1am midnight just to ensure it ain’t rising, but to my surprise, it subsided quicker than I thought, the whole lane was already water free, which was a great relief.  I’m sure other lower areas in Sibu are once again haunted by this sudden flood, sigh~
