My Charmant is finally at HOME!

Posted in Car stuff on January 20, 2009 by Stanley Carter

Damn right!  After 2 months of waiting, my car is finally out of the freaking paintshop, now parking elegantly (LOL!) in my house, rust free and looking sexy clean! (but my dashboard still looks crappy, will post pictures up soon)

I first drove my car out of the paintshop on last Sunday (18th Jan) at 7pm, first thing I did was to test drive the car at the nearby industrial driveway (naughty naughty~), I have to admit, I care more on how my car drives instead of the paint job quality! So how was the test drive? well it didn’t went well as the car doesn’t seem to respond as it used to be, must be due to the spark plug changes at the previous week, and what disturbs me the most was that the LSD doesn’t seem to work at 1st gear!  I drove to a wider area, and attempted to donut just to try out my LSD, 1st gear, dump clutch, rear tires started to spin as expected, but when the rev reaches 5-6k, it felt like clutch is slipping and the rev started hitting the redline, bra bra brap~~!!  The donut tidak jadi, tried 2 and 3 times, still same, was scared that the LSD already given up, then started driving the Charmant out on the roads again, the clutch seems ok though, then drove back to the wide area again, this time using 2nd gear, dump clutch, surprisingly, the car donuts swiftly, what I don’t understand is now my 2nd gear felt more powerful than the 1st gear?  Weird~~~

Anyhow, I’ve also changed all four door panels yesterday, which costs me another extra RM250 including wrapping and installation.  Lemme summarize the changes which I don’t really like about after I got my hands on the car:

1. LSD doesn’t respond the way it was

2. Seat rail has been redone and welded, but now my seat is HIGHER!  And non-adjustable! WTF!

3. I still have awful offset wheels at the back LOL!

4. Dashboard is falling apart.

Other than that, I’m happy with how the car looks now after the repaint, especially after I’ve applied all the DCM stickers onto the car last night.  Can’t wait to do some photoshoot of my little Charmant, which I haven’t, blame it on the weather these days, non stop rains!  Stay tune for more updates.

Rain = Good! Flood = No Good!

I’ve always loved raining days, raindrops drizzling down from the sky, cooling down the temperature and making everything wet and slippery too, especially the roads, which is always good for drifting! ^^

But when there’s too much rain, especially in a town like Sibu where the drainage system is disastrous and the gov’t full with blood sucking pigs, you’ll get this:

The three pictures above were shot from my mom-in-law’s house, luckily they’re staying on the 2nd floor which is totally safe from the water, however it ain’t so lucky for the family staying downstairs though, pity them. :\

Anyways, the flood has basically subsided since yesterday and everything seems to be back to normal again, lets do hope that the flood doesn’t return during CNY!

Back to my Charmant shall we?  I know, I know, I’ve said that I won’t make another post of my car unless my car is complete, which isn’t by the way, but I just couldn’t resist in sharing my little frustration.  Due to the non-stop rainy days, the temperature were very low for the past few days and it ain’t good for paint spraying, but in fact, my cousin decided to give it a try anyways, and here are the results:

The pictures you see above looks fine, but these pictures were actually taken right after my cousin had finished spraying, with just a few minutes later, the paint on some portions of the car started to drip down slowly, and both of us were like “holy shit….”.  The paint applied on my car is the “slow dry” type (direct translation from mandarin, not sure what’s it called in English), hence the dripping problem caused by low temperatures.

Due to the above issues, my cousin had no choice but to redo all the f*cked up parts and respray them when the weather turns better, this sucks, if it wasn’t because of this incident, I would’ve been driving my car back home today or by tomorrow.  According to my cousin, the soonest I could get my car back would be on Sunday, meh!

Till next time, and I really do hope that my car would be finished by then!

The sexiest KE70 on earth!

Posted in Car stuff on January 13, 2009 by Stanley Carter

Since my hometown is currently flooding badly, there’s not much to do except staying at home most of the time when I’m not at work.  While I was browsing Speedhunters last night, I came across this one of many TAS’2009 post which was covering the vintage rides, that is when  I saw this gem:

This is how an old school KE70 should look like, everything is kept super clean and simple, no over the top bodykits or any of that crap, just slap in some super deep dish watanabes with a little fender flare, and you’re ready to roll!  Check out the stance of the car, simply drool worthy!  Although there isn’t any shots of the engine, but according to Speedhunters this cur is equipped with a 4AGE, pretty common engine swap for such a car I’d say.

Anyways, there are more other cool rides being covered in the post though, if you’re interested, you can check’em all out here –> CLICK ME!
