My Christmas experience!

Posted in Personal on December 28, 2008 by Stanley Carter

Of all the years that I’ve spent on Christmas, 2008 is definitely the year that I received the most presents, nuff’ SAID! XD

If any of you do follow my previous blog entries, especially on the failed gift wrapping one, you’d know that I’ve participated in two Christmas gift exchange sessions.  The first session took place at my office, I received a box filled with three items inside, first being a notebook (which I’d gladly donate to anyone who’s interested, as me and my wife have no use of it):

The second item in the box is a 4R sized photo frame, which as you can see, I’ve placed a wedding picture of me and my wife:

The last item is a pen holder + tiny photo frame + miniature drawer, this is my favorite piece of the gift and I’ve placed it on my work desk, and also a cool picture for the frame itself (which I’ve took from my wedding pictures collection as well):

The second Christmas gift exchange session happened last night when I’ve attended a post-Christmas BBQ gathering at my wife’s colleague’s house.  The gift that I’ve got is a clock:

Now that I’ve covered the Christmas gifts that I’ve got from the two gift exchange sessions, time to move on to my other presents, next is this pink colored Cactus (no shit! It’s a REAL Cactus!) that I’ve got from my colleague:

Seriously, I’ve never heard nor seen a colored Cactus before, except for the Green ones of course.  Apparently this is not the only color my colleague has in hand, she actually bought several versions which all had different colors and shapes, there’s also this yellow Cactus which shaped like the private parts of a man, LOL!  Anyways, this Cactus is just so cool that I’ve also decided to place it on my work desk, here’s another view of this pink colored Cactus:

My last Christmas gift came from my lovely wife, which is this Racing Glove that I stumbled upon on this thread from DCM.  It’s an unknown cheapo brand hence the ‘not so’ expensive price tag, I’ve always wanted a proper glove during my drift practice and now it’s the chance, my wife was generous enough to sponsor me for the glove as I was out of money actually LOL!

My racing glove

My racing glove

To be honest, this glove doesn’t fit on my hands that well, after I’ve firmly wore it on, there are some tiny gaps at my finger tips, especially on my thumb, which really sucks, maybe I should’ve picked size ‘S’?  Well, I have yet to test it on my Charmant, that will have to wait when my car is out of the paint shop, I will make the final judgement by then.

Now that wraps up my Christmas presents part, lets move on to my other Christmas experience.  On Christmas eve, it was pretty much a boring day for me, first of all, Sibu was invaded by heavy rain the entire night, and since my wife is currently pregnant, I can’t bring her for any of the countdown parties (which all took place at local pubs), it was pretty disappointing as all our friends were partying while both of us had to go home early.  But nonetheless, our baby is our main priority, party only mar, lots of chances lar~ XD

On the actual Christmas day, I’ve brought my wife to Kent’s Kitchen for our Christmas Dinner, I forgot the actual menu that we ordered but the Christmas package consisted of Chicken salad:

And then the mixed grill:

There’s also a glass of Apple Juice, a cup of tea, some Garlic breads.  Overall it was a pretty good Christmas dinner that we had although the price is a bit on the high side (I’m a cheapskate!).

And that’s all for my Christmas experience!  End! LOL!

Gift wrapping epic fail!

Posted in Random on December 20, 2008 by Stanley Carter

Before I explain, check out the following epic fail wrapping  LOL!

Failed gift wrapping

Failed gift wrapping

It looks hideous doesn’t it, and guess what, even though it IS a Christmas gift that I bought which will be used for the Christmas Gift Exchange program that is to be held next Monday in my office, but this wrapping was actually done by my wife! LMAO!

Well, to be honest, it ain’t exactly her fault though, I should be the one to be blamed as I was the one that insisted that the gift should be wrapped on directly instead of placing it in a proper box, yep, you heard me right, it’s a dumb idea I know LOL!

It all started yesterday when me and my wife visited the SuperSave store at Sibu Delta Mall during lunch time.  We were basically looking for some decent and also cheap gifts that falls under the requirements (minimum RM10 or above) for the upcoming Christmas Gift Exchange programs (yeah, it ain’t just one!).  As the name of the shop implies, the shop is packed with loads of variety cheapo items, my wife picked a medium sized photo album while I got myself a pretty decent looking table clock, then I reminded my wife that these items don’t include any packaging or boxes, she then ensured me that she will bring some back from her office later in the evening, which she DIDN’T by the way.  Without having any proper sized boxes to do the gift wrappings, I then convinced my wife that by just wrapping onto the item wouldn’t look too bad, she hesitated at first but got into it after several ‘encouragements’ from her lovely yet ignorant husband, and this was the outcome:

Failed gift wrapping

Failed gift wrapping

Yuck!! I have to admit I didn’t expect it to look THAT bad, my wife went nuts and was so regretful at the ‘stunt’ she just pulled off, hats off to her for that though! Ha ha!

Here’s another shot of the crappy gift compared to a decent packaged gift:

Gift comparision

Gift comparision

The better looking gift was also done by my wife, well that was her gift though, since the photo album does come with some sort of a cover box thingy, so the wrapping can be done ‘properly’.

Anyhow, my crappy gift did not stop there, we had to fix it, I mean, how can you expect anyone to even appreciate a gift like THIS?  Guess not huh… LOL!

Well, this was the solution that we thought of, by using an empty tissue box:

Emptied tissue box

Emptied tissue box

The tissue box proved to be a bit too big for my Clock, but nonetheless its better than nothing.  Since both me and my wife were too lazy to customize the box to make it fit the gift item more (which is still possible btw), we decided to just give it a go, after some simple wrapping, my gift now looks way better:

Nice gift!

Phew, that was a relief! LOL!

Worst registration ever?

Posted in Random on December 14, 2008 by Stanley Carter

This morning while I was browsing Tengku Djan’s latest blog entry on the Red Bull Drifting Event, I was tempted to post a reply to show my support, so I’ve decided to register to his blog site, to my surprise, I see this:

What the F*ck?

What the F*ck?

As you can see from the screenshot above, WordPress requires me to enter the letters that it provides, just have a look for yourself, can you actually IDENTIFY any letters from that at all?  Well, I honestly don’t, and I’m sure this is definitely one of the weirdest registration I’ve ever encountered, I wondered if it’s a joke though?  ^^

Charmant restoration continues….

Alright, back to more of my Charmant’s restoration progress report!

Above are some of the pictures that I forgot to post up which actually shows more repaired body parts from my Charmant.

And look! My fender is fixed, yippee for that! LoL!

Basically after all the rusts have been fixed, the car was immediately sent to my cousin’s paint shop which is situated at Jalan Sungei Antu, the shop is called “2829”, weird name for a paint shop I know, but I do wonder what it actually means, hmmm….

Anyhow, pictures, yes!

Here you can see some sand blastings being done on the front bonnet and the rear trunk area, more to be done in the next few days, not a very fast progress though.

This is the kind of putty that they used to apply on my car to smoothen out the dents.

Primer Paint

Primer Paint

And this will be the type of primer paint that my Charmant will be applied on, except that mine is in white, not dark grey.

Charmant after applying putty

This is how my car looks at the moment, parked right outside of the paint shop, with the bumpers taken off and such, the putty job is still incomplete though, as you can see in the pictures, there are a whole lot more to be done before the primer paint can be applied.  Oh and by the way, the little shop that you see in the background with a Pajero parked in it, it’s an auto service shop as well and the mechanic actually drives a 4AGZE car, too bad its a Corolla AE100 though, meh~

There is also something that I’ve been thinking a lot lately, which is to install a rear strut bar (if I can find one) or simply weld a steel bar here:

Rear strut bar maybe?

Rear strut bar maybe?

The idea of simply welding a steel bar onto the two suspension mounts was actually from Louis (a.k.a Tofu), I think it’s a good idea, if I really can’t find a proper strut bar to do the job, hehe!  Thanks for the advice Louis!

Say bye bye to Rust!

Back to the Charmant’s body restoration progress report!  Basically my car is already fully restored and 90% free of rust now at the moment, it is now being parked at another workshop for a new paint, which I do hope it will be done before January 2009.

So how was the rust repair?  Check out these pictures yourself:

Remember this part?  Well the rust has been fixed, and next I’ll show you how my car used some really thick putty!

Thick putty that was applied on my car ages ago

Thick putty that was applied on my car ages ago

This is actually a small portion of the putty layer that the workers from the workshop tore from my car, check out how thick it is!  Damn~!

My Charmant had an accident many years ago when it crashed into a road side tree sideways, it was a direct hit from the passenger side’s B pillar, the damage was pretty bad:

Charmant crash that happened many years ago

I assume when the car was sent for body repairs, the guys decided to fill up the body with thick layers of putty instead of trying to knock the body as close as to its original shape, lazy method alright, hehe!

Charmant body restoration - Passenger footrest

Charmant body restoration - Passenger footrest

Another area which was fully repaired is the front passenger’s foot rest, there used to be a tiny hole which was caused by rust, a new steel plate and some welds would get it fixed.

Charmant body restoration - Rear Trunk

Charmant body restoration - Rear Trunk

This was how my rear trunk looks like before the rust was being treated, don’t worry though, it is being fully repaired by now, just that I don’t have any updated pictures at the moment.

Charmant body restoration - Rear Bumper

Charmant body restoration - Rear Bumper

Here you can see how the rear bumper had a big dent right above the Exhaust, this was actually caused by a motorcycle crash years ago when my dad was driving, the cyclist was ok, and my dad didn’t even bothered to send the car for repair right after that, what a bugger! LOL!

Charmant body restoration - rear bumper fixed!

And this is how it looks like when its being knocked back into its proper shape, looks way better now.  Also check out my tiny tires at the back, looks pretty hideous huh?  Well those have to stick with me for a while as the bigger wheels are still out of my budget, plus with these smaller tires, its easier to induce oversteer, I’m still a beginner drifter anyways. ^_^

And last picture of this entry, this is the place where I sent my Charmant in for body restoration and rust repairs, it took them 2 weeks just to get everything done, not actually fast but not slow either, in the end I’m kinda satisfied with the work done, now I’ll just have to wait for another month before I can get my car back onto Sibu roads for more sideways action!

Sibu roads KANASAI!

Posted in Car stuff on December 5, 2008 by Stanley Carter

I came across this thread last week, without much hesitation, I replied and got in touch with Johnny (a.k.a Levin7AGTE in DCM forum) soon after.  Apparently Johnny has arrived Sibu and was looking for any DCM members, well, he’s lucky he found me LOL!

Anyways, me and Johnny met up at the parking lot of the new Xing Kwong mall (he stays there nearby), and we proceeded to a nearby coffee shop called “茶香” for a drink or two.  When I first met Johnny, apart from drooling over his sexy turbocharged 4AGTE (yes you heard me right, t-t-t-turbo!), which looks like this:

I was also surprised at how young he is, I mean, I first suspected him to be in the late 20s or maybe 30 years old or or older, but no, he’s only 25!  And that makes him younger than me, I don’t really understand why, but I am really surprised.

Once we were seated and ordered our drinks, we jumped right into several topics which are all (obviously) related to cars, drifting, and of course, his turbocharged AE86.  Johnny is a tiny guy, wear specs and he’s very friendly too, reminded me a lot of Yoong (a.k.a MrNismo in DCM) and also the famous Sibu doctor drifter – Mr.Louis (who happened to be the guy that fulfill my drifting dream)!   Apparently they’re all successful and talented adults that looks extremely down to earth, and…and… and they all wear specs.

While me and Johnny were chatting around, there was one thing that he highlighted that I found is so very true, he commented Sibu road condition as the followings:

  • Awful
  • Terrible
  • Scary
  • Undrivable

Well I actually made some of those up, but he was really shocked at how terrible the road conditions are in Sibu, when his AE86 first arrived Sibu (transported here by a Trailer), he took it out for a drive at Sibu town, what supposed to be a leisure sight seeing driveby in Sibu, had turned out to be quite a nightmare for him.  Due to his negative -3.0 front camber, a super stiff sport suspension setup and the 2-way LSD, the car was literally hopping all over the road even though he was merely driving at 50~60km/h only!

After the horrific driving experience, he was so convinced that his AE86 may not be able to set foot (or tire to be exact) on Sibu roads again, the bad news is, he’s planning to send his car back to his hometown (actually he has another here for daily driving, so transportation ain’t a problem for him), just when I thought I have another drifting companion in Sibu, the turbocharged beast is leaving very soon!  Boo!

Well who’s to blame?  Sibu road la, what else?  Only one word can describe it, truly… KANASAI!!

Me hates Taiwan Drama?

Posted in Personal on December 2, 2008 by Stanley Carter

Yes, this post is going to be in Chinese, reason being this entry was actually posted several days ago on another site that I visit frequently, and I thought I might as well just copy and paste it over here, due to my laziness, I won’t be translating this, tee hee!  Do read on if you can understand:

Basically all that I’ve said above is the fact that I’m currently addicted to this drama called “Fated to Love you”, it ain’t the latest Taiwan drama, but I got hooked on it thanks to my mom and my wife, yeah its a rare sight for someone like me.

Anyways, my Charmant is coming out from the bodyshop tomorrow and will be sent to another place for its new paint job, I’ve taken some pictures before but I think they weren’t that much interesting, will try to take some more of it tomorrow and probably write some updates on it.

On a side note, the Sibu Rainforest Hash Annual Run is this coming Sunday, guess I better take a good long sleep the day before, as I heard the run is going to be f*cking LONG!  Yes I’m coming for ya mother nature!  Yeeee Hah~!
